Hey everyone, Given all the recent controversy about DeviantArt, DreamUp and AI art, as well as the fact that I'm now seeing a huge amount of it on my home feed all the time, I just wanted to share my opinion since I have very strong feelings on the matter. I am absolutely against AI art in any form. I do this as a hobby, and I haven't even been doing it that long so this isn't really about me, but AI art in its current form is a massive fuck you to all the artists who have spent years and years learning their craft as they're sometimes overshadowed by an AI. I see so many accounts popping up that just spam endless AI-generated images, getting hundreds of favourites and a bunch of comments it, presumably from people who don't even know it's AI generated considering the poster doesn't always state as such. I've even seen people selling these generated images on DeviantArt. I know that at a quick glance it's not always immediately obvious that an image is AI-generated, I've been

So it looks like DA has back tracked on the automatically opted in feature for their dumbshit ai. Instead you need to decide to opt in. Which is honestly what it should have been from the start. So my permanent exodus is kinda on hold now. However I still feel like this move from Da was so flagrantly greedy that it's obvious da is not looking out for artists. Like the fact that they only release a option that should have been there from the start after the whole site basically threatens to leave? Yeah that's not suspicious at all... Honestly I've been on this site for long and made so many friends and seen so much epic art. Seen so many of your art evolve into badass styles of your own. Part of me really doesnt want to leave. But it's obvious the people in charge are intent on profits instead of artist. And like I get it you have bills to pay and sites this big are probably costly. But the fact I ahve to pay to keep my art from getting nft'd? Not to mention the recent fiasco. I

AI "art" doesn't even deserve the title. It's a computer made image, using a bunch of artist's hard work and meshing it together into an image. Why is deviantart pushing this so hard? No wonder everyone is leaving, this is so scary and knowing their art was most likely stolen and used for this program without their permission is not something we should stand for. I'm sorry to those of you that had your art stolen or had to leave because of this. Such a waste of a once good website, why, why, why would an art website support stealing its own users art? The people standing for this and supporting it either aren't taking into account that this program is stealing or they know it's stealing and just don't care as long as they can get some sweet cash or recognition off of their AI image. It's sick really, and sad, that people would even support such a thing, or even laugh at the people who are upset that their art is being stolen. This will effect how AI scrapes IP if ruled in favor of the IP holder. I hope DA team sees this as a serious reason (since they won't take an ethical reason) to back off with their AI stuff. I'll keep poking them with this stuff and updates. Also, if I can figure out if artists can join a class action lawsuit against Stable Diffusion, I'll keep everyone in the know. Heya folks! nuclear-smash here to announce that I've deleted my art due to AI training, NFT scamming, more thieveries and yeah. DeviantArt really has fell off and I don't want my stuff to be used anywhere without my permission. 'But you could disable--' all 500+ of my stuff was my easier to delete, trust me lol plus no protection against NF-crap scamming. Anyways, that's all I wanted to say, if you want any of the requested/commissioned art back (from around 2015-2019), shoot me a message on Twitter or Newgrounds; I'm no longer checking this site again. So regarding the recent AI update thing for dA, even tho they already changed it but it can't change the fact that they didn't think about the artists UNTIL ALOT OF PPL TALK ABOUT IT lol imagine have to check all 100+ deviations, not to mention those who can't check it. so thanks dA my trust issue for you has flied off the roof LMAO. It's so frustrating for all the things that artists from all platforms have been through this year aklsdnlad it's just ... man a whole mess //lays down.
